Abdul Karim, the founder of Beitshifa gained his BScHons in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham in 1983 and went on to study acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and massage (Tui Na) in London, Taiwan and China. He has been treating patients since 1991 and since 1997 has also been running courses and lecturing on Chinese medicine and nutrition. In 1997 he founded Pure Health Ltd as a supplier of innovative, professional quality natural health products and today he divides his time between seeing patients, running Pure Health and multiple other businesses, and lecturing in the UK and abroad.

Ayesha Powell is married to Abdul Karim and has three children, whom she has raised healthy and happy without ever having to resort to a doctor.
